That’s the thing, see? At my age, it’s really almost a standard question at family gatherings or when you see friends you haven’t hooked up with in a long while. Seems everyone wants to know when I’m going to get married.
For those of you who have been following my goings-on these past few weeks, you already know that my younger brother just got married last August. It was a fun affair, and just like any big event, it was quite a challenge putting together. We even had a whole lot of relatives come over from all over- Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver, Boston, the UK- and the logistics alone were quite a feat.
Of course you want your own wedding to be memorable and fun. Not just any wedding- you want a genuine Philippine wedding, with all the trappings and traditions, but also with your own personal twist. So if you do have plans of getting married anytime soon, it would be wise to go look around, do some research, just so you have an idea of exactly what you want (and what you don’t want!) for your big day.
Attend a few weddings, or take it a step further- get involved in organizing one. Check out those wedding trade shows, skim through some magazines, and go online to check out websites and other people’s weddings.
As for my own wedding- I feel like having an 80’s feel to it. Get the string section play some of our old 80’s favorites. Even theme the food accordingly, and put nice little twists for the reception. The mass should be serious and solemn enough, so it would be nice to go crazy for the after-party.
Ah, and lots of music, dancing and wine. That would be a blast.
