American Idol is now running on its 7th season. While I normally don’t get too overly fanatical by mid-season, this time around it’s not hard to tell that the finalists are more polished this time. I suppose it can’t be helped- after 6 seasons, you can only expect the quality of contestants to be better than ever. Heck, they even play instruments this time.
Me, I’m really more in it for the music. It’s good to see which songs are really ideal for showcasing vocal performances, or which ones are audience favorites. Recently two of my favorite classic rock songs were featured: “Carry On Wayward Son” by Kansas, and Foreigner’s “Hot Blooded”. Although I liked it that I was able to see a rendition of these two songs, the performances of Robbie Carrico and Amanda Overmyer were completely unsatisfactory.
Well, we have 4 more weeks before we have our Top 12- and I seriously hope that we could have a stellar line-up by then. In the meantime, I hope nobody else butchers my favorite songs. I suppose we’ll just have to keep watching and hope for the best.
